What is the best vacation home in St Andrews?

Scotland Vacations has now reviewed the best vacation home in St Andrews

St Andrews is a lovely olden seaside town of Northeastern Edinburgh. If you are a history buff, a golf fanatic or just a lover of Whiskey then St Andrews is the place for you! Read on to see where you must stay when you visit this lovely ancient town.

The King & his dungeon

Found just 2 miles up the road from Cupar on the way to St Andrews, A very short drive off the A91. The road that takes you to St Andrews from Edinburgh is an enchanted castle by the name of Dairsie Castle. Which dates back to the 12th  century!

Dairsie has been the location of secret parliaments, military sieges, and safe haven’s for escapee monarchs (James VI and I). Furthermore, it has been brought back to life by the current owner! You can stay here with your family and friends and have a royal feast, drinking from goblets, and eating haggis.

Dairsie flowers

On arrival, there is so much space for parking, enough space for about 15 cars.

The castle grounds are huge! They go on forever with a herb garden and an orchard, even a watch tower.

In the kitchen there is the traditional country AGA cooker. The kitchen is a great place to have breakfast but come dinner time if you fail to cook the haggis correct, and you could find yourself imprisoned by your friends in the dungeon. Luckily for you it now happens now to be converted to a lovely bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and ensuite bathroom.

Dinning table

Finally, A great hall is the centre point of all castles, and at Dairsie castle is no exception. With a very large dining table that can host up to 12 people. The most comfy sofas for a dram after dinner. Perfect for large family dinner or for cunningly planning a siege to take back Scotland from the queen and give it its independence.

In Conlusion, we loved staying here and recommend it to anybody.
